Program Note
Little Sarabande was written in October, 2025. Thinking on the connection between the baroque and me, I recalled the Sarabande from J.S Bach's Lute Suite No. 3 BWV 995 (a transcription by Bach himself of his more well known Cello Suite No. 5 1011). Whenever I play this piece, I am incredibly conflicted between Bach's own restraint and sparsity and my own desires for it to just go on and on and on and on, these moments of beauty. Little Sarabande starts around maybe minute 6 of my on and on, and ends a bit later.
